Welcome statement
We take great pride in welcoming you to our Bataan 2020, Inc. website.
Bataan 2020 was formed in year 2000 from assets and equipments of then, Bataan Pulp and Paper Mills, Inc. (BPPMI).
We have been frequently asked why we named it Bataan 2020. We are with the opinion that the closure of BPPMI was unfortunate and arguably could have been prevented. Hence, as we start off with another company, we hope and strive that we exercise 20/20 vision and be extra vigilant and prudent in our task and responsibilities.
Those familiar with Philippine Market would attest that we have a small market and the issue of international economics of scale is sadly absent. Other industry challenges include high energy cost, high international freight rates, brain drain and outmoded equipments, to name a few.
The way we juggle multi grades for production allocation is unheard of. Yet, it appears as one of the key element to survive.
Fate has been kind to us and we have been steadily growing over time with gradual increase in capacity as well as peripheral related activities. The Asian Crisis has provided invaluable lessons as we learn to be extra prudent in evaluating expansion projects as we shun from availing of offered credit facilities.
We may be one of the more diversified mills in terms of grade lines to include - the production of Brown Line – Corrugated Medium, Newsprint, Printing and Writing Bond lines for both white and colored grades, Uncoated Wood free as well as the full range of Tissue line.
What may be perceived as the strength of our organization lies is our openness to listen, to adopt new ideas, embrace technological improvements and quick to change. This can only be achieve if we have the pool of experienced, creative, vibrant, forward looking and competent human pool of experts and specialists to blend.
We treat both our internal and external customer with respect, uphold professionally our trade agreements, as we believe there should be no disconnect between the two. We are committed to the environment we live in and to uphold our role in social responsibility and development – which includes gainful employment to the qualified. |
